Bluegrass Museum Announces ROMP Virtual Band Contest
Due to concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic, ROMP 2020 was sidelined. But it is expected to return to Yellow Creek Park in 2021.
In the meantime, if you are a musician in a band and you want to get your ROMP on right now, you can, thanks to a pretty cool new contest.
It's called, simply, the ROMP Virtual Band Contest and it's presented by Jagoe Homes and I think it sounds like tons of fun. The contest is open to all pickers who play bluegrass or acoustic roots music. See, I love it already.
If you are entering, your band will need to produce an AMAZING video of your performance. And by that I don't mean it simply has to be a static performance clip, but if it is, knock it out of the park. The winner gets to perform at ROMP on the main stage and the Jagoe Homes after party stage. The following video has all the details you need to get your band entered:
And if you're not a musician or in a band but you know of one, let them know.
Now, here's the deal. When all of the submissions are entered--and they're being accepted today, December 3rd, 2020 through January 31st, 2020--you, the public, will do the voting which will begin on February 3rd and go through March 14th.
The winner will be announced on March 17th, so maybe the luck of the Irish will also play a part.
You'll find all the rules and entry info at RompFest.com. Good luck.
