It was a great day for Cape Air at the Owensboro Daviess County Regional Airport Wednesday. Federal, State and local Officials gathered to Officially welcome the airline to Owensboro and Daviess County.

The Airline has been operating 18 round trip flights per week between Owensboro and St. Louis since early December but Wednesday was the OFFICIAL DAY. It was a success as more than 200 people came out to meet the Cape Air management and local staff.

Airport Manager Bob Whitmer introduced several of the Cape Air Family and all had the same message. They were as happy to be in Owensboro as Owensboro was to have them.  There was talk about the airport expansion, Cape Air's commitment to be a good corperate citizen, and the synergy between the community and the airline.

Many officials representing city and county government, The Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce, The EDC, Daviess County Fire Dept, were on hand as well as citizens who were interested in seeing the Cape Air Plane.

Kenny Bosley of Moonlite added an incentive for folks to fly Cape Air. He told the crowd that thru May anybody who brings in a Cape Air ticket stub dated April 4, 2012 thru the end of May 2012 would get a free lunch buffet from the World Famous Owensboro Restaurant. Moonlite Bar-B-Q provided a light lunch, there were ticket giveaways and other goodies and an impressive waterfall provided by the Daviess County Fire Dept. for the plane to taxi thru. The plane seemed to be going thru a rainbow as it left the gate.

1490 WOMI's sister station 92.5 WBKR was on hand broadcasting live from the event. With Cape Air offering all seats on every flight for just $49 including tax to and from St. Louis that is certainly as Kirk Kirkpartick would say, "GOOD NEWS'.

Cape Air has a downtown ticket counter located in the Creme Coffee house in addition to it's counter at the Owensboro Daviess County Regional Airport.

I am posting some photos taken at the event so you can see what all the excitement is about. It is indeed exciting to park right here in Owensboro and in less than an hour be in St. Louis.

Welcome Cape Air you have brought us much closer to the rest of  American and the World.
