DCMS to Host Governor’s Cup Competition

Daviess County Middle School is hosting the District Governor’s Cup Competition on Saturday, Jan. 21.

The academic event is sponsored by the Kentucky Association for Academic Competition. Participating schools are Burns Middle School, College View Middle School, Owensboro Middle School and host Daviess County Middle School.

DCMS is located at 1415 E. Fourth St., Owensboro. Governor’s Cup features eight events, including the Quick Recall event, which is the only category of competition open to the public.

The Quick Recall contest is scheduled to begin at 10:45 a.m. The first round will feature Daviess County Middle School versus College View Middle School, and Burns Middle School versus Owensboro Middle School.

An awards ceremony to honor the winners in all eight events will follow the last round of quick recall and is scheduled to begin around 3 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.

District winners will advance to the Governor’s Cup Regional competition to be held at Union County Middle School on Jan. 31 and Feb. 4. Regional winners will advance to the Kentucky Academic Championships in Louisville, March 10-12.
