Donations for Stephen F. Austin Player Skyrocket Following Duke Upset [VIDEO]

In September, Nathan Bain's home in the Bahamas--as well as his father's church there--was destroyed by Hurricane Dorian.

A GoFundMe page was established to help his family raise necessary funds to begin rebuilding their lives.

Tuesday night, donations on that GoFundMe page shot through the roof soon after the Stephen F. Austin University forward ran the length of the floor in historic Cameron Indoor Stadium and connected on a layup, handing the Duke Blue Devils their first non-conference home loss in nearly 20 years.

Filled with emotion, Bain spoke to reporters following the historic upset and choked back tears as he mentioned the devastation his family and home country have been facing since Dorian tore it apart a couple of months ago.

The Lumberjacks were 27.5 point underdogs, making this win, statistically, the biggest Division I upset in the last 15 years.

It's an even bigger one than Evansville's shocking Rupp Arena victory over Kentucky earlier this month. The Purple Aces were mere 25-point underdogs against the 'Cats.

But what a story for this team--with all of FIVE NCAA Tournament appearances in its history--and its newly-minted star player.

Pundits are already saying that this, in no way, guarantees that SFA is on its way to an NCAA at-large bid next March.

In fact, the odds are that the Lumberjacks won't make the cut.

But, you know what?

I have a feeling, they're not going to care. I mean, think about it. What's better in your mind?

Going to the Big Dance as a 14 or a 15 seed only to likely be blown out in the first round OR going into Cameron Indoor where no non-ACC team has won since February 2000 and pulling off the biggest upset of the 2019-2020 season?

Uh huh.
