You've heard when life gives you lemons make lemonade.  How about when mother nature drops almost a foot of snow on your doorstep grab a bowl and spoon and make snow cream.

Angel here and one of my favorite memories with my momma was the year she taught me to make snow cream.  She learned when she was a little girl so she passed it down to me.  My brother and I would get super excited at the first sign of heavy snow when we were kids.

Now if you're like Chad you may be thinking is snow safe to eat.  The short answer is yes.  The long answer is this;

  • Don't eat yellow snow or any other colored snow for that matter.  Try to find snow that is located off the ground.
  • Snow is just crystalized distilled water.  While it is falling from the sky and may pick up dust and dirt.  Most likely if the snow has been sitting for a bit the dust and dirt are gone.
  • A lot of people have a concern with lead poisoning.  The main thing you need to know is to stay away from the snow near cars or on the roads.  Snow near the exhaust of a car is not safe to eat.

Now to the good stuff.  If you have never made snow cream or any snow dessert I found some recipes y'all are gonna love.
