A big event is happening Saturday April 16 and your invited.  At 10am the celebration of another milestone in the construction of the new Owensboro Medical Health System Hospital.

Crews will be placing the final beam in place before the exterior walls go up and work begins on the interior. The massive structure is nine stories tall and is visible from almost anywhere on the east end of  Owensboro. What is even more impressive is that the construction began about one year ago. What  a difference a year makes.

When it opens the facility will feature 477 beds and state of the art facilities.

The activities Saturday begin at 10am with employees and the public invited to see the setting of the final exterior beam. The morning will also serve as a time to applaud the health improvements of over 1,000 participants in the Get Movin’ Community Challenge as winning teams are recognized.

In addition those in attendance will be afforded the chance to sign one of the interior beam of the building. The event is slated to end at around 11:30am.

If you have not been by the work-site recently you really should try to attend. This building would be awesome in any city but it is right here in Owensboro.

The Hospital Board and Staff have worked hard to keep all citizens involved with the progress of this monumental project. They are also open to suggestions from the public. The  have  also put a webcam up so you can watch the activity on a day to day basis.

This is something we will all remember so bring your kids, grandkids and a camera. See you Saturday 10 - 11:30am at the new hopsital site between Pleasant Valley Rd and Daniels Lane.
