Every now and then I come across something so bizarre and unexpected that I just have to share it with you and that is exactly why I'm here right now.

Part of what I do every day is look for interesting things to write about for you and there are a number of tools and resources that I utilize. One of the ways I find engaging content ideas is by checking out what is trending - particularly, what is currently being searched for in our area on Google.

A surprising Discovery

Today's search brought me to a rather surprising discovery. One of the top trending phrases being searched on Google right now is "Indiana Bullwhip." Now, I have a pretty good idea as to why that phrase is trending (more on that in a moment) but I thought it best to go ahead and Google it myself to be sure...

Is It a Movie Reference?

Now, I had assumed that the trending phrase had something to do with the new movie coming out in June, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. As I'm sure you already know, Indiana Jones is known for two unmistakable items in his films - the hat he wears and the whip he carries. So while there were plenty of Indiana Jones references in response to my Google query, I was not in the least bit prepared for the very first search result at the top of the page.

Urban Dictionary to the Rescue

To my shock, holding the deeply coveted first result on Google was a very colorful description of an "Indiana Bullwhip" from Urban Dictionary. Now, to be fair, this is not my first go with Urban Dictionary.

I Was Not Prepared for This Definition

I am actually a little ashamed to admit that I am familiar with more of the slang terms on that site than you might guess but I simply was not prepared for the description resting squarely at the top of the list of Google search results when I hit enter after typing "Indiana Bullwhip" into the search bar.

According to Urban Dictionary, an Indiana Bullwhip...

"...is when you [defecate] in a tubesock, tie it, and hit someone with it."

Can You Use It in a Sentence?

They even give an example of the phrase being used in a sentence... right there on the Google search page. I didn't even have to open the Urban Dictionary site for it.

"Dude! Look at this streak on my face from that Indiana Bullwhip!"

The More You Know...

Now, I don't know how frequently anyone is actually using this phrase or even why it has been assigned to the state of Indiana. I know that I had never heard it before today, and now that I do know it, you do too. You may now go forth and wield your newfound knowledge accordingly. I think it was the late Stan Lee who, while writing for the Spiderman comics, wrote "With great power comes great tubesocks..." or something like that.

**DISCLAIMER: I am not responsible for any damage caused by you smacking a friend (or a stranger) with a tube sock full of dooky.**
