When Angel Welsh was a member of the morning team at The Country Station, 92.5 WBKR in Owensboro, she had a popular weekly segment on the radio show. It was called "Angel's Bargain of the Week" and it aired on the station and was published online each Friday. Angel is the self-professed 'Queen of Bargain Shopping' and she loved having the platform to be able to share her money-saving tips and fun finds with area bargain hunters. As it turns out, she has created a brand new platform.
Angel left her radio career last March and recently opened My Sister's Keeper- an emergency shelter for women and children here in Owensboro.

Well, now there's news of another endeavor that's related. In addition to serving as Executive Director of My Sister's Keeper, she is about to open a new thrift store in town that will raise money for her shelter and Friends of Sinners, a local nonprofit run by Angel's husband, Joe.
In a social media post made Thursday, Angel publicly shared plans that have been in the works for months. In less than six weeks, she and Joe plan to open a new store called Gifted Thrift. The store will feature "upscale thrift from boutique style clothing to furniture and housewares."
Angel's love for thrift shopping is deeply rooted in her DNA. As she explained in her social media post, she was raised by a single mother, who "worked three jobs to make ends meet." Angel got her appreciation for the art of the deal honestly. She says, "We didn't have a lot of money to shop retail stores, so we would head to garage sales, consignment shops, and thrift stores. She taught me about brands and how to look for the best deals. I was a pro before I hit middle school."

I have witnessed Angel in action- many times. I can attest. She is indeed a pro! Within the next couple of months, all of her experience and knowledge will be on display and on sale at her brand new bargain hunting store at 1706 JR Miller Boulevard in Owensboro.
