Longtime Owensboro Realtor Jim Estes made it official this morning on the Joe Lowe Morning Show, he is ending his affiliation with Coldwell Banker. The company is now named, The Greater Owensboro Realty Company.

"Sometimes things change and you have to change with them", Estes explained. "There are a lot of non profits that are hurting right now so we decided that instead of sending thousands of dollars in franchise fees to New Jersey, we would keep the money local."

How will he do that?  The new Greater Owensboro Realty Company is  going to give 3% of their commission fees to local non-profits. The client will determine which non-profit will get the money.

"All of our systems currently in use are not in any way affiliated to the current franchise so everything will stay in place", said Estes during the radio interview. "Internet, Virtual Tours, Text information and multi-list access will all remain the same. We simply want everyone to know that we are "SOLD ON OWENSBORO" and want to keep that money, which normall leaves the area,  working here in Owensboro."

According to Jim Estes it will be the same great people, the same great service but with the emphasis on local charities.

In the next 14-21 days new signs will replace old ones. The new Greater Owensboro Realty Company logo will replace the current national image and the nonprofit charity donations will begin.

Jim Estes also has a suggetion for those who cant decide on which charity to support. "We support Habitat for Humanity", if someone asks us to give it our choice of charities it will go there", said Estes.

This new concept is exciting and has potential to raise a lot of money for Owensboro/Daviess County non-profits. Since franchise fees and the set donation amount are about the same, it will be interesting how the public reacts.
