You may have heard about the Joe Ford Nature Center. It is 13 acres of fun, excitement and learning for young and old.

In addition to the everyday activities at the JF Nature Center they also hold "Special Events" almost monthly.

This Sunday is one of those Family Special Activities and it sounds like it will be a ton of fun. From 2-4 Sunday afternoon the Owensboro Community Band will perform. Those attending are asked to bring chairs and some food and drink. While the adults enjoy the band concert the kids will have plenty to do in the park area.

Perhaps after the concert a short family nature hike will be in order. Both the Willow Pond and Wild Fern Trails are open. You can pick up a map at the nature center to help guide the way and to identify the many trees and plants you will encounter. The nature center is also open. It is home to snakes, a tree frog and tarantula. Outside be sure to visit the bird sanctuary.

Joe Ford continues to bring nature to the citizens of Owensboro and  Daviess County. Very few of us had not interacted with Joe at some point in our lives. He is a great Daviess County Treasure and so is the Nature Center that bears his name.
