Matt Mason has been named principal of Daviess County High School, replacing Anthony Sparks who recently accepted the Director of Instructional Technology position at the district office.  Mason has served as Assistant Principal of DCHS for the past two years.

Mason completed his undergraduate studies at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree.  He completed a Masters in Educational Administration at Western Kentucky University and is currently working on his Rank I certification in Pupil Personnel and Supervision.

His professional career in teaching began in Hancock County High School where he taught for one year before coming to Daviess County High School. Mason taught Social Studies at DCHS for eight years prior to serving as Assistant Principal.

Other leadership positions held by Mason at DCHS include Athletic Director, Assistant Athletic Director, Head Softball Coach and Assistant Baseball Coach.

Matt and his wife Marlys have one daughter, Kate, who is three years old.

The announcement of Mason as principal of Daviess County High School was made June 26, 2011.
