Safewise has released its annual list of the safest cities in Kentucky. While Owensboro, did not make the list, the western Kentucky portion of the tri-state was relatively well-represented.

In order to determine why the cities would be ranked as they are, Safewise analyzed FBI crime report statistics and assigned the most weight to violent crimes like murder, rape, aggravated assault, and robbery.

Naturally.

Ties were broken based on the number of property crimes like auto theft, burglary, arson, and larceny-theft.

Within the immediate tri-state area, Central City came in at number 12, while Morganfield and Dawson Springs checked in at numbers three and eight, respectively.

Very impressive.

Oh, and speaking of IMPRESSIVE, Safewise reports that 40% of Kentucky's safest cities had NO violent crime to report.

Here's to seeing that percentage INcrease!
