New Legislation Could Ban Paddling in Kentucky Schools
Paddling has been a topic for debate for years, now. Who paddles? Who doesn't paddle? Who was paddled as a kid and turned out fine? Should schools allow paddling?
That last question has myriad subjective responses.
We've entertained the matter on this website before. And on Facebook.
We have found that, typically, the majority doesn't have a problem with it.
But a proposed bill would put an end to the practice, once and for all.
A report from WDRB-Louisville indicates that this bill, which would make spanking illegal, should find its way to the table for consideration during next year's session.
Keep in mind that a similar bill was rejected in 2017, so this legislation could be facing an uphill battle.
WDRB's story says that the bill was inspired by a proposal in the Kentucky Youth Assembly.
The 2019 General Assembly will begin on January 9th.
