It's been a weird summer at the box office. When you check out, a website that tracks movie grosses for time immemorial, you notice that the biggest hits of 2020 are all releases from late last year or January and February.

The COVID-19 pandemic has certainly taken its toll on the film industry.

But it doesn't have to take its toll on the movie-going experience.

Earlier this summer--when movie blockbusters flood theaters around the country--Malco Owensboro Cinema Grill reopened on weekends only, filling its screens with earlier 2020 releases and classics like Jurassic Park and Jaws. More recently, it's been closed outright.

Well, beginning August 21st--and maintaining strict and extensive safety protocols-- Malco Owensboro will be open seven days a week.

And there are still big releases on the horizon for 2020, like Christopher Nolan's Tenet, slated for Labor Day weekend, and Wonder Woman 1984, coming October 2nd.

Personally, I love watching big movies on the big screen. It's just not the same in the living room.

(Of course, I don't miss anything in the event of a bathroom break.)

See you at the movies.
