SAVE THE DATE: The Owensboro-Daviess County Christmas Parade Is Back!
Santa Claus is indeed coming to town! Today, this little elf is bringing you some very exciting news. The Owensboro-Daviess County Christmas Parade Assocation has announced that the parade is coming back this year and the date is set.
The parade, like many public events, suffered to find its footing during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Last year, in the wake of the resurgence of another COVID variant, the parade was canceled. However, the association has been working in conjunction with the City of Owensboro to revitalize the parade for 2022.
So, save this date. The parade will be Saturday, November 19th and officials are now accepting entry applications.
In addition to accepting applications for floats, bands and additional entries, the Owensboro-Daviess County Christmas Parade Association is also accepting applications for vendors, including food trucks. In fact, they're encouraging local foodies to let their favorite food trucks know they can be part of the parade festivities this year.
Have a favorite food truck here in Owensboro? Let them know we will be accepting vendor applications on our website, christmasparade.net , through October 31st for participation in the 2022 Owensboro-Daviess County Christmas Parade!
Look! I'll admit it. I have always been a huge fan of Owensboro's Christmas Parade. In fact, for years, Dave Spencer, Jane Head and I (and occasionally Angel and Barb) called the play-by-play for Time Warner/Spectrum Cable. It was always one of my favorite live events of the year.
We're thrilled it's coming back for 2022. We've missed it and we know a bunch of you have too. The Owensboro-Daviess County Christmas Parade has always been billed as the place "Where Kentucky Starts Christmas." And the official start to the holiday season will begin at 4:30pm, Saturday, November 19th!
If you'd like to apply to showcase a float or participate, you can apply online at Christmasparade.net. Early Bird rates are in effect now. It's $50 for non-profit groups and $150 for commercial groups. Those rates are in effect through Halloween.
This year's theme is Christmas in the Movies!
There's no doubt that Second Street in Owensboro is going to be transformed into a Holly, Jolly Winter Wonderland.
