Brescia University is delighted to have Saundra Kelley, writer, educator and storyteller, on campus April 11 and 12. This opportunity is sponsored by Brescia University’s theatre department and the English department's Ichabod Society.

On April 11 at 7 pm, Kelley will conduct a workshop in the Study Pavilion, which is located on the second floor of the Campus Center. The workshop will be highly interactive with opportunities for attendees to incorporate some of what they learn in small groups.

On April 12 at 7 p.m., Kelley will perform several of her stories in the Study Pavilion, followed by a reception sponsored by the Ichabod Society. Her stories will involve a blend of Appalachian Jack Tales and tales from the natural world. A copy of her book will be given as a door prize at the end of the evening.

Both events are free and open to the general public.

Kelley earned a bachelor of science in political science with minors in communication and creative writing in 1994 and an master of arts in education with a concentration in storytelling in 2007.

Currently, she is a freelance writer and storyteller in Jonesborough, TN. She wrote Florida Beyond the Sun, a collection of essays and narratives, and edited Southern Appalachian Storytellers: Interviews with Sixteen Keepers of the Oral Tradition, published in 2010. She also contributes a monthly column to the Wakulla Florida Area Times as the Tennessee Rambler.

Kelley is an active member in the Tennessee Writers Alliance, National Storytelling Network, Jonesborough Storytellers Guild, and the Florida Storytelling Association.
