I want to preface this by saying don't get your hopes way up, but there's a teeny tiny chance we'll be able to see the northern lights in the tri-state area this weekend.

Let me again emphasize that I'm skeptical this will be viewable for us. (Someone find the "You're saying there's a chance" meme)

Weather Nation TV shared word that the northern lights are likely to be visible in the northern US Friday night into early Saturday morning. Notice that starting in the southeastern Iowa area, there's a "see it on the horizon" possibility.

This is all based on recent solar storms that resulted in northern lights forecasts by NOAA. Will we be able to see them in the distance? It's possible late Friday night into early Saturday. Is it likely? I would vote for not really.
