Craft Brews

There's just something about having a locally brewed beer.  My husband and I are big fans of hitting up breweries. We love to frequent the breweries around the Evansville area, and when we go out of town the first thing we usually do is find the local breweries to hit up.  Usually, breweries have a cool, laid-back atmosphere, and you can typically get certain beers at breweries that you can't find anywhere else.  It's also a cool way to experience a new place.  So which Indiana brewery is the oldest?

Broad Ripple Brewpub

Located in Indianapolis, Broad Ripple Brewpub isn't new to creating delicious craft beer, they've been in the game for 33 years, and tout themselves as the "oldest brewpub in the state of Indiana." After taking a look at their website it's easy to see Broad Ripple Brewpub doesn't just serve up craft brews, they serve food as well.

The owners actually have a really cool story, Nancy, a native Hoosier, and John who is an Englishman decided to open the Brewpub, but they wanted to give it a traditional English pub feel from the moment you walk in the door.

The Brewpub was designed to recreate a typical English pub with its dark wood paneling, leaded stained glass windows, decorative tin ceiling, and cozy fire place. The Brewpub has one of the largest outdoor cafes in Broad Ripple Village, seating over seventy people.

You can learn more about Broad Ripple Brewpub, see their menu and hours through their website here.
