The WKU Football Hilltoppers held their spring game on Saturday with the White Squad defeating the Red Squad 45-13, but the real story came at halftime.

Now before any Chicago Cubs fans reading this get alarmed, WKU's football team will "Raise the W" at Houchens Industries L.T. Smith Stadium each before each game week this fall. As seen in this Twitter video:

Cubs fans, your "Fly the W" tradition is safe. This is actually a cool idea for WKU and who thought of it? It's a new idea from new head football coach Mike Sanford. The Western "W" pays homage to the longtime vintage "W" on letter man jackets. It will be raised each Monday by a member of the team who is committed to his team and his play. Replica flags will be available later this summer. GO TOPS!
