Burns Middle School Coach Retires After 33 Years On The Field (PHOTOS)
Coach Mike Hamilton, from Burns Middle School, is the epitome of exactly what middle school boys (heck every kid) needs to encourage, inspire, and lead at such a vulnerable age. Wednesday night he retired after 33 years of coaching-->
Angel here. I remember my first encounter with "Mr. Hamilton" when I was a middle schooler in 1993 at Burns. I was new and he treated me like I had just always been one of his students. Fast forward to 2013 and I began working along side him in the Guidance office at BMS. Nothing changed. He welcomed me with open arms and became a very dear friend.
Coach as most would call him had a way of grabbing the attention of a crowd. He can tell a story like nobody's business (now the story will last through the better part of a day) but somehow you are captivated by every detail.
He has been a coach for 33 years in football and 13 years in softball. He also has experience coaching basketball and track too.
Many gathered to wish him well and for his last game he went out with a win.
If I am being totally honest they don't make em' like Mike Hamilton anymore. He is top notch, an outstanding, awesome person, friend, coach, co-worker, dad, and so much more to all who have walked the journey with him.
Best of Luck Coach, you have blessed so many over the years and will continue to have an impact for years to come.
