The Owensboro Air Show is August 13th through the 15th in downtown Owensboro, KY.  For the first time ever, the Southern Utah University Aerobatics- Chuck Aaron Academy is performing in the event.  While air show fans are used to seeing airplanes pull off amazing and breathtaking stunts, it's pretty rare to see a helicopter doing the same thing.

Well, guess what?  This weekend, you have the chance to see the legendary Chuck Aaron in action in what will be his final air show.  Though Chuck is retiring, his team is ready to take over the controls and they already have dozens of shows booked for 2022.

Yesterday, I got to climb in the helicopter and go for a ridiculously fun ride with Mike. I have ridden with the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, Team Aeroshell and a variety of other stunt pilots.  I have been upside down in a plane MANY times.  However, until yesterday, I had never been upside down in a helicopter.  In fact, I thought that just sounded crazy.  Well, guess what?  It was actually CRAZY FUN!

Here's some video from my ride!

Now, that's what it looks like from inside the helicopter.  If you crossed the Blue Bridge yesterday afternoon around 5pm and were driving in the Rockport area, it's entirely possible you saw us in the helicopter.  A friend of mine saw the helicopter and thought it was in distress.  Naw.  That's just how these guys roll.

Here's what it looks like from the outside when a helicopter flips upside down.  Check out this video.  It's your chance to meet a true legend in aerobatics.

This weekend, don't miss your chance to see Chuck Aaron live.  He'll be flying high, and flipping his helicopter, in downtown Owensboro for the 2021 Owensboro Air Show.

By the way, if you want to read more about he Chuck Aaron Academy, which is "the world's only collegiate helicopter upset recovery and advanced instrument flight training program," CLICK HERE!  It's fascinating.

I have to thank Mike and all the guys from Southern Utah University Aerobatics for the ride yesterday. It was one of the coolest things I have ever done.

When we landed at Mid-America Jet, Mike turned to me and asked, "Well, what do you think?"  My answer was quick and blatantly honest.  I said, "I think you're a bad ass."  And for about twenty minutes yesterday afternoon, I felt like a bad ass too.
