Friday after 5: Let the Good Times Begin

Friday After 5 is a weekly summer-long series of free outdoor concerts held on the Owensboro riverfront. The festival began in 1996 with four weekends of concerts and has grown to become a 16-week, summer-long signature event for the entire tri-state area hosting more than 50,000 visitors each season.

The festival includes live bands, interactive events for families, crafts and entertainment every Friday from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Owensboro's Ohio River riverfront.

Friday After 5 includes four venues of entertainment each week.

1) A Live band playing on the main stage (BB&T Plaza overlooking the River.

2) Unplugged venue in the RiverPark Center Courtyard sponsored by Unifirst.

3) Street Fair that includes vendors, unique children’s events and booths sponsored by Kroger.

4) Gospel on the River, which is sponsored by Glenn Family Services and provides free concerts each season featuring regional gospel groups in RiverPark Center’s Cannon Hall.

Friday After 5 serves as an additional attraction for those visiting Owensboro. The street fair includes the region’s Class Reunions, Antique Car shows, Civil-War Re-enactors, Salute to First Responders and other timely events happening in the area.

All events are free thanks to the generosity of local, regional and national sponsors.

The 2011 season of Friday After 5 starts on May 20, 2011 as the city kick's off it's 16th consecutive season with a great party and dance band, "The Louisville Crashers".

The City of Owensboro host will host a "Party on the Patio"! Time to put on that new outfit you've saved since spring and enjoy the sizzling summer season.

The "Rubbing Alcoholics" make their FA5 debut in the Unifirst-sponsored
Courtyard.

Plus, the Owensboro Twisters will have free balloon animals for the kids. Get a free firehat from real Owensboro Firefighters and see a firetruck truck up close and personal!

There will also be a Hula hoop and water balloon contests during the band's only break at 7:45. All of this for the Friday After 5 kick-off May 20th.
