Illinois Police Attempt To Fight Crime One Donut Hole At A Time

The iconic image of a police officer chomping down on a sugar-filled donut is a classic portrayal of the typical law enforcement stereotype.  One Illinois Police Department decided to live up to the saying, "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em."

Facebook pages for Law Enforcement are usually to inform the public about crimes, safety events in the Stateline, and updates on any breaking news.

For this Illinois Police Department in Palos Park, Illinois, they've found the solution to lowering thefts in town, one donut hole at a time.

They posted to Facebook a photo of a donut locked up on a bike rack with the hilarious caption, 

"Just a friendly reminder to lock up your valuables Palos Park. We do!" [PPPD]

 

That's one way to catch your attention... or criminals... while mindlessly scrolling through Facebook!

It's totally a crime to be this funny.  I shouldn't be laughing this hard (lol).

With over 4,000 likes, 120 comments, and 400 shares later, this Police Department really knows how to target an audience!

It's a breath of fresh air when authorities can have a sense of humor from time to time.  It makes you realize they're all still human, too.  Without a little laughter in this dark world, I would lose my mind.
