Owensboro Riverfront Changes

The Owensboro riverfront has needed a beautiful site to see for many years now. Shortly after the destruction of the Executive Inn the change began to take place. Now finally these plans are finishing this year. Owensboro plans to have bountiful garden’s with a beautiful launch of the fountains that are being put in. These renovations are an 80 million dollar project, for the price Owensboro gets a downtown hotel, convention center, and markets square. There will be grand opening events for August to launch the new addition to the Owensboro Community. The events are listed as followed.

• Thursday, August 23 7:00 p.m. - Shelton Memorial Rededication Ceremony
• Friday, August 24 6:00 p.m. - Launching of the Fountains (first public display of the interactive fountains in Smothers Park) to kick-off Friday After Five
• Saturday, August 25 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 am - Static display and open house at the airport
• Saturday, August 25 11:00 a.m. - Grand opening of the playground and spray park
• Saturday, August 25 1:00 p.m. - Owensboro Air Show (viewing locations at Smothers Park and English Park)
