Yesterday I posted a story about the new business and massive construction projects along the Hwy54 corridor. My contention is that too much attention is being paid to downtown projects and not enough to what is going on elsewhere. Admitting that perhaps concerns regarding the size and expense of the proposed new Owensboro Events Center had not been addressed, Owensboro Mayor Ron Payne called for a bit of a cooling off period today. At a noontime news conference The Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce publicly asked questions many citizens have had recently. These questions are about the proposed Events Center size and costs. Questions were also asked about the Gateway plan that was approved in 2009. You can read the entire story by clicking in the link above.

Daviess County Judge Al Mattingly talked about the new Events Center downtown. He discusses all the events that have lead up to this point. Mattingly says he is surprised by the lack of citizen involvment in the project. Mattingly also comments on the size of the building and the costs involved.
