You can tour 18 new homes presented by 10 registered builders this weekend as the Home Builders Association of Owensboro begins their annual Parade of  Homes. Friday morning most of the Parade homes were getting some last minute attention from an array of workers who were planting, painting, working on lighting and clean up with hours to go before the big event.

Owensboro has a long tradition of Parade of Homes tours. The first being held in 1958.

The free tour features new concepts in design that optimize square footage with living space extended into outdoor living areas. Homes are more efficient in design and operation as building techniques and sciences have advanced dramatically in the last few years.

Prices range from $100,000 to $1,000,000.

Chair of this years Parade, Nick Thompson of Thompson Homes, says Owensboro is fortunate to have the finest skilled craftsmen.

What about economic impact?  Homebuilding adds about 50 million dollars to the locat economy annually. In the last year 300 new homes were build in Daviess County adding over 600 jobs. The Homebuilders Association boasts over 320 member companies employing more than 2,500 worker annually.

This years Parade of Homes is Saturday June 18 from 10-5 and Sunday June 19, 1-5. The Parade Homes will be open the same hours Saturday June 25 and Sunday June 26.
