How Many Grammys Have Kevin Olusola Of Owensboro And Pentatonix Won? [VIDEO]
Owensboro Native, Kevin Olusola, of Pentatonix has had quite a successful music career. Along with the members of his group he has received multiple awards including three Grammy's for their musical stylings.
Pentatonix is a 5-member a capella group with members Avi Kaplan, Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kirsten Maldanado, and Owensboro's Kevin Olusola. The group is well-known for their medley style characterized by beatboxing, vocal harmonies, percussion, riffing, and pop-style.
The group won NBC's "The Sing-Off" receiving $200,000 and a recording contract with Sony Music. They have been in a snowball of success since! Most recently the group won Best Country Duo/Group Performance at the 59th Grammy Awards for their cover of "Jolene", featuring Dolly Parton who originally sang the song.
They also received a Grammy for "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" at the 2015 Grammy's.
and their very first Grammy came in 2014 for "Daft Punk"
After doing a little research I found that many popular musical sensations have failed to add a Grammy to their awards. The following artists made the list
Shania Twain
Patsy Cline
Katy Perry
Dierks Bentley
Guns N' Roses
This is just a few of the music artists that have never received Album of the Year. I was quite shocked! However, I think it is pretty amazing that one of our own hometown boys has. We are super proud of Kevin and all he is doing!
Just a little sidebar...I gave him swim lessons as a child! I wonder if this had anything to do with his success...LOL totally kidding :)
